Yolanda Fogarty

Bio

Very experienced family seek combined station roles.

My family and I spent the best 15 years in Paraburdoo and Tom Price. Our love of travelling in the Outback and Northwest of Western Australia; we have made the decision to return to life in rural/regional Australia, we have been based in Mandurah for the past 15 years.

We are both down to earth and prefer the company of country people learning about the history of the land they live in, inspiring us to travel on the cattle stock routes and pioneer pathways. We are willing to learn and would love to be part of a station family. Our big strong 14 year old (over 6ft 2in) would be travelling with us and his studies would be through SIDE. He is also very keen to learn and work on a station/farm. He wants to study Agriculture and hopefully this will expand his ideas on which direction he will take later on in life.

I am keen on a position as either a Governess or Cook, and Domestic All-rounder on farms/stations. During my time in the Pilbara I was heavily involved with RFDS fundraising over $100000 through the RFDS Ball and our annual patient trolley race around town. I was involved in many community based events but also enjoy time out bush on our own.

My husband John has experience in farming; his family comes from dairy, beef and merino farming background. He has experience in, including bore/water runner, windmill servicing and repairs, as well as in mining and construction –scaffolder.

We both have permanent jobs, but it is now time to live and work our dream. City suburban life is not for us. It is time to start our new adventure. We are looking for long-term (preferably) or short term positions if there are any available. It has been a long time since we lived in the bush so we would have lots to learn and are really keen to do this.

I believe teaching children does not only belong in a mainstream school or classrooms. You can be educated anywhere with the right mindset and encouragement. Developing rapport and getting to know the children gives you the ability to tap into what inspires them. After all it is about them not us! Being able to provide the children with a fun, safe and happy environment is key to their academic learning and mental health

As an educator I have developed over the years and I am now a Learning Support Coordinator. I have held this position for over 3 years. I have been in education for over 10 years. I am responsible for resources and support staff in a mainstream school. I am also responsible for alternative school programs and transition of senior students to further education and employment. I speak to a lot of different agencies and teachers every day! I am part of student services which is challenging and rewarding, supporting students to have the ability to become lifelong learners who grow and expand their choices and capabilities.

Key Information

A year 12 student aspiring to be a teacher, however I want to spend some time (1-2 years) working as a governess in outback Australia before starting university.

Bio

From a very young age I've ridden horses, quad bikes and spent plenty of my holidays at home doing cattle work with dad. Being at boarding school in Tamworth NSW, going home for holidays and the odd weekend excited me as I was able to spend time with my animals and family.

After completing work experience in Scone, NSW, in year 10 I set my mind to becoming a primary school teacher. I enjoy spending my time with young children and absolutely love the idea of helping them discover or learn something new.

Working as a governess in outback Australia is what I aspire to do beyond year 12 and, if given the opportunity, I would make the most of every day and try to make a positive and exciting relationship with the children in which I and associated with.

I believe that my big laugh, quirky sense go humor, love for animals and the outback and enthusiasm will be best suited for a job in outback Australia, whether it be as a station hand or governess.

Psychology student looking for the next adventure in 2020

Bio

Hi there,
I have always loved teaching and being part of the learning journey. It has been my great pleasure to be raised on a property in NQLD and later on a small sheep hobby-farm. Travelling around as a house-sitter has taught me to be flexible and adapt well with your environment (moving from sunny Queensland to winter Armidale is quite a change :)). I enjoy hands-on, physical work and would ideally look for a mix of farm-work and schooling. As I will be studying myself, I believe that I can demonstrate good habits and help to keep children engaged in what they are tasked, leading by example. I am also a passionate musician (and music teacher when the opportunity presents itself) and hope that you don't mind sharing your home with a flute and alto saxophone.

Relevant Skills and Qualifications

I completed Year 11 with exceptional results in board English, Mathematics B, Modern History, Legal, HPE and Health. My predicted OP was a 6 and I was ranked 5th out of my cohort (100 students). I terminated high-school studies after being accepted to study Psychological Science at the University of New England.

Currently, I do not have a First-Aid Certificate or Working with Children checks but will be happy to obtain these should you require.

I hold a QLD manual driver's license and own a reliable SUV. I am a confident and competent driver, having been taught as a child on the farm. Holding a Cert. II in Auto Mechanics means I am capable of minor repairs and have had experience driving long distances on dirt roads in all conditions.

Availability

I am available to start with the 2020 school year. At present I am completing parts of my degree full-time on campus until the end of this year and during the summer break, up until the start of January. I would love to be part of your family for as long as you need.

Other Information

Finally, I would like my family to be welcome to come and visit occasionally or time off to travel to see them.
I thank that is about it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
Thank you,
Latarni

Experienced demi au pair wanting a new one of a kind experience in the Outback teaching and helping others.

Bio

Hey families,

I’m Miri a Working Traveller from Germany, I’m half Finnish.

A friend of mine recommended I look for work as a governess. After thinking about it for a while I thought it’d be a good idea to share what I’ve learned so far in life. I spent a year in America and graduated from a High school there, so I’m fluent in English. Then I went back to Germany and completed my A-levels in English and Psychology. I’m an experienced Demi-Au pair and had a great time in a lovely family, who are happy to give you a reference.

I’m very hard working, flexible and open minded. I love to exchange philosophies and ideas with people. With any problems that need to be solved, I think outside of the box and I’m a good team player, but happy to carry responsibility as well. I’m very punctual, mature and reliable.

I’m open and ready for whatever the role as a governess expects from me, whether it’s just teaching, or including station work. By that being said, I should mention that I’m very allergic to horses, so it depends on the station work that needs to get done if I’m able to complete it.

Relevant Skills and Qualifications

2016 Graduated from Brandon High School, Michigan USA
2018 Completed my A-levels in English and Psychology, Leverkusen Germany

I have a First Aid certificate, international drivers license and my own car.

I’m fluent in English, German and Finnish and have basic knowledge of French and Spanish.

I like being active and tried many different sports like gymnastics, track, cheer-leading and judo. So I’m also happy to teach my knowledge of them.

Another passion of mine is music, I play guitar, Bass and know some basic piano chords. I also write songs and sung in a choir in the school choir in America.

All in all I’d consider my skills and interests very wide and open.

Availability

Depending on how far I have to travel and where in the Outback I’ll end up, I am available from around the 22nd of July.

I’m currently on a 417 Working Holiday VISA and would like to work as a governess for 3 months to get my 88 days completed and spent my last month afterwards travelling before going back home to Germany.

Other Information

I’m hoping to get my 88-days signed off by being a governess.

Because of my allergy towards horses, I won’t be able to work with them.

Key Information

I am a 2018 school leaver, born and raised on a cattle station, looking to nanny or governess for a fun family as my gap year!

Bio

I think I would make a very good governess as in year 8 I was taught through distance education by a school leaver governess. We had the best year full of laughs, and we became good friends. I understand the large amount of work governesses need to put in due to that experience. Generally when someone describes me the first word out of theirs mouths is bubbly, which is something I am proud of. I have a vibrant personality with an easy attitude. However, organisation and attention to detail are other strong suits I hold. I am loyal and I love to have fun. I want to make life easy for others so I'm extremely flexible and will always, always do the best job I can. I am extremely energetic and am not afraid of work. Being born and raised on a cattle station I have lived and breathed hard work and know the strength needed, I am mature beyond my years and extremely responsible. I am experienced in mustering and cattle work, and come from a family of stock horse breeding. I would love to governess and leave a fun and long lasting memory on any child. Because I too have been a bush kid and know of the importance governesses have on kids growing up ruraly.

Relevant Skills and Qualifications

QCE, willingness to obtain first aid certificate and other relevant checks, currently looking to see if I can get a truck license. I hold a P1 drivers licence (going into Provisional 2 in June), I am completely comfortable driving on dirt roads and for long periods of time, with my own vehicle.

Availability

I am available as of the start of December.

Other Information

I am an avid campdrafter, and I play polocrosse. After my gap year I intend to go to university and study nursing and midwifery with my ultimate goal becoming a flying doctor nurse.

Key Information

Certificate III qualified educator/tutor seeking a new experience and adventure for 2019.

Bio

My name is Erin. I am 41 years old and a single mum to a lovely, gentle, sweet and kind 5 year old boy. We live in Wollongong, NSW, in a lovely spot near the beach with our 3 year old Jack Russell x dog “Joy”.

I am currently a stay at home mum while I complete my studies in Certificate III in Education Support through TAFE NSW. I expect to have this completed by the end of this year.
I also have a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care which I completed in early 2018.
I have a current First Aid Certificate and a NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
I am willing to obtain other qualifications if required.

Previously I have worked in various situations from large government agencies to small businesses and am able to adapt to new environments and changing conditions. I am reliable, competent, trustworthy, able to work alone or as part of a team and I will always give my best in any environment and situation.

Being a governess appeals to me in that I can apply these qualifications and skills in an environment that appeals to me as an alternate way of schooling and education and also to satisfy my want for a different life experience for me and my boy.

I am looking to secure a position where I am able to educate my son alongside the children I am employed to educate and care for and also for us both to experience station life.

I have traveled quite extensively within Australia and have experienced many adventures and truly appreciate the spectacular country we live in. I have seen so many wonderful places, landmarks and diverse scenery and I would love to start exposing my son to all the adventures I myself have experienced. I would love to broaden both of our horizons and life experiences.

While travelling Australia I experienced many remote places, I have experienced a cattle muster and other aspects of station life and I thoroughly enjoyed the environment, remoteness and landscape. It was during these experiences that I first considered the idea of being a governess to satisfy my interests in adventure and caring for and educating children.

We would love to add this experience to our cache of memories.

Relevant Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications - Certificate III Early Childhood Education and care
- Certificate III Education Support (currently completing)
